Meet Zoey! This 4 year-old girl is true to her breed-the American Akita. You have to earn it with this one. There are no free passes. No immediate friendship. You cannot win her over with belly rubs. In the beginning, you will need to respect her space. She's not food-motivated, but feeding and watering her, along with daily walks, will quickly earn you a space in her heart.
She was purchased (along with Zeke) by bark yard breeders, but Zoey wanted nothing to do with their plan; therefore, the pair were dumped at a North Carolina kill shelter.
I believe in this girl. I believe that she can make a wonderful, loving, protective companion for whomever chooses her, but they MUST be experienced with the breed. Zoey will be completely vetted before leaving our rescue, and will personally be delivered by me to make sure that her first intros to her new family go smoothly.
Adoption fee includes transport to the midwest, northeast, or southeast.
